In the newest Game Informer, there's an article about the PS3 breaking region codes and allowing gamers to play games from any region...that's great, but the bad news follows. The article hinted that PS3 may contain the technology to detect if a game had been played on a different console prior to you purchasing it...if this is included, it means you would not be able to buy or play used PS3 games without the console they were originally played on...this is a serious screw job to many people if you think about it.
The following are some major consequences:
-People selling their console would have to sell all the games with it because they wouldn't work with any other player's console.
-The entire used game service of stores like EB games and Gamestop would suffer, some smaller stores may even go out of business...
-we would all be required to pay the estimated $60-70 for brand new games.
I seriously hope this idea is speculation or rumor and not a true fact.

well, that's just a really bad idea that Sony's got there. I hope this doesn't go through, it could/would affect the entire industry and even drive away non-gamers. Let this stay rumor and never happen.

[glow=darkred,8,300]Yeah, I heard about this too. I hope they change their minds, or the rental idustry will suffer. Also, from a business standpoint, it will make PS3 sales suffer too. People won't want to buy a system if they also can't borrow friends' games or rent anything. If they just bought new games all the time, they would waste alot on crappy games.[/glow]
