Let me begin by saying, nothing you've ever played can prepare you for Burnout Revenge. It's such an awesome game that it's in a league of its own. Whether you're a racing fan or not, this game is for you.
Gameplay: 10/10
Smash, bash, grind and slam your way to the top in World Tour or destroy your friends in multiplayer or online play. Burnout Revenge features all of the different gameplay options from Burnout 3, aswell as some new additions. For starters, there's Race, Crash, Road Rage, and Burning Laps, but the new game mode which can be a lot of fun and a bit annoying, is called Traffic Slam. Basically, in traffic slam, you hit as many cars from behind as you can in the alotted time. Hitting cars traveling in the same direction as you is a new addition to the Burnout series and is a skill that could give you the upper hand in a race.
Sound: 9/10
Revenge has a similar soundtrack style as Burnout 3 did. Mainly rock and punk music, a bit of electronic, techno and rap. The crashes sound great, all the sound effects are in order and the soundtrack features tracks from both, well-known and not so well-known artists.
Graphics: 9.5/10
Does Burnout ever dissappoint in the graphics department? The answer to that question is of course, no. Burnout Revenge keeps a close style to older Burnout games but the graphics have been drastically improved. The sunny road surfaces almost match those shown in trailers for Need for Speed: Most Wanted. I would never compare a current generation game to a next generation game unless it was completely true, and it is.
Replay: 9/10
Burnout is a series you can always find some quick fun with. Again, Revenge is no acception.
New to the series:
-Multi tiered courses
Launch off ramps and land on roof tops, then prepare to drop down for the kill...which brings us to our next addition to the Burnout series.
-Vertical takedowns
A stealthy attack from above. Crush your opponents.
-Shortcuts
Need a quick way to make a comeback from sixth place to first? Shortcuts can usually help. Shortcuts come in the form of back alleyways, grass hidden dirt roads, steel gates that lead into narrow passages, jumps that send you soaring onto roof tops, etc.
