Title: Mario Kart DS
Release: Late 2005
Developer: Nintendo
System: Nintendo DS
Function: Wi-Fi
Players: 2-8
Over 30 courses, unlockable characters and courses, new items, tracks from every single Mario Kart game. What more could you want? Oh yeah, can't forget the wi-fi online play.
It's finally here, one of the most anticipated games of the year, I got my copy just hours ago and I had a chance to set up my wi-fi information and play a few races against random challangers. I won and lost about half and half, but I had tons of fun playing, despite the outcome.
Graphics: 8.5/10
Stellar for a handheld, Mario Kart DS' graphics are better than Mario Kart 64 and not too far behind Mario Kart Double Dash.
Sound: 8.5/10
Mario games alway have loveable soundtracks, Mario Kart DS is no different. In fact, this is one of the only handheld games I like to play with the volume cranked up.
Gameplay: 10/10
Awesome, addicting, glorious. Say what you want, it's beautiful any way you look at it. The online play has got to be the best thing in the entire game. Playing against other people from around the globe is a blast. Aside from having Regional and Worldwide Wi-Fi play, the game boasts an impressive single player mode for those gamers who don't own wireless router or Nintendo's USB adaptor, or those who are perhaps not skilled with technology or are a bit too poor to afford broadband internet or a wireless transmitter of sorts. Tons of unlockable, fun challenges, old school racing goodness. Gotta love it.
Replay: Infinite
It's always sketchy to talk about a game's replay value, but with Mario Kart DS, I am confident it will never become boring. Online gameplay makes this game unstoppable.
Overall (not an average): 10/10
